About Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo
Located in The Dubai Mall, the Dubai Aquarium is home to thousands of aquatic animals comprising over 140 species. The centerpiece is the massive 10-million-liter tank, one of the largest suspended aquariums in the world, which contains more than 300 sharks and rays, including the largest collection of Sand Tiger sharks anywhere.
The Underwater Zoo, located on Level 2 above the aquarium, takes visitors on a journey through different ecological zones including Rainforest, Rocky Shore, and Living Ocean. Here you'll encounter unique creatures like the King Croc, one of the world's largest reptiles measuring over 5 meters in length, as well as playful otters, penguins, and rare aquatic species from around the globe.
Your Underwater Explorer Experience
Your adventure begins with priority access to the Dubai Aquarium, where you'll meet your expert marine guide. First, you'll journey through the 48-meter-long underwater tunnel, surrounded by marine life swimming above and beside you. Your guide will point out different species and share fascinating facts about the aquatic ecosystem.
Next, experience a unique perspective during your glass-bottom boat ride over the main aquarium tank, offering a bird's-eye view of the sharks, rays, and thousands of fish swimming below. Then, venture behind-the-scenes to areas not accessible to regular visitors, where you'll learn about marine conservation efforts and see how the aquarium's inhabitants are cared for.
Depending on the day's schedule, you'll have the opportunity to witness a shark feeding session from a special viewing area, an impressive demonstration of these magnificent predators in action. At the Underwater Zoo, you'll experience an exclusive presentation of King Croc being fed and learn about this prehistoric species.
The interactive touch pool gives you a hands-on experience with starfish, sea urchins, and other gentle creatures under the guidance of marine experts. Throughout your journey, your guide will capture special moments for your digital photo package, a perfect memento of your underwater adventure.
Booking Information
- Available daily from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM (morning session) or 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM (afternoon session)
- Experience lasts approximately 3 hours
- Confirmation will be received at the time of booking
- Not wheelchair accessible due to behind-the-scenes areas
- Children must be accompanied by an adult
- Minimum age is 4 years for the behind-the-scenes tour
- Comfortable walking shoes recommended
- Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the experience starts
The behind-the-scenes tour was fascinating! Our guide Sam was so knowledgeable about all the marine life and shared interesting facts about the aquarium operations. The glass-bottom boat ride gave us an amazing view of the sharks. My kids loved the touch pool experience and were thrilled to see King Croc up close. Worth every penny for the educational value alone!
Great experience overall. The shark feeding was the highlight for me - truly impressive to see them in action. The underwater tunnel is beautiful and the guide provided interesting information. I'm giving 4 stars because the behind-the-scenes tour was shorter than expected and felt a bit rushed. The digital photos were good quality though.
Disappointing experience for the price. It was very crowded despite the "skip-the-line" promise, and we had to wait nearly 20 minutes for the glass-bottom boat. The shark feeding was canceled without prior notice, which was the main reason we booked. Our guide was friendly but couldn't answer many of our questions about marine biology. Not recommended during peak tourist season.
